Stage 5 Water Restrictions

5.jpgWater Corp have announced that stage 5 restrictions will start in Denmark from the 1st January 2008. Basically stage 5 means only 1 day per week for sprinklers(either the morning period or the evening period but not both ) and the use of 1 hand held hose or hand held watering can at other times.FYI there are two further stages if things dont improve….. stage 6- no sprinklers whatsoever, hose or watering can only…. stage 7- watering cans ONLY, no filling of pools,no washing of cars except by bucket of water and cloth and only to the minimum extent to enable safe driving. Hopefully it wont come to that! WaterCorp will be running a advertising campaign to inform residents and visitors.

Hi John, just stumbled across your website through Google, trying to find out about the current water restrictions - it’s great to be able to find out all the news from around town!
A bit scary about the water situation in Denmark, especially as we seem to be the only town in WA on such tough restrictions …. which seems strange, as we aren’t the driest place in WA.Even when we lived up north, with very little rain all year round, the situation was never that dire.
I may invest in a water tank this winter … maybe there could be added incentives for households to purchase their own rainwater tanks and have them plumbed into toilet and laundry, and use for watering. At this stage, the rebates available seem very small, considering that this may help the situation a bit, until a long term solution can be found.
As for long term solutions: There is always the option of a desalination plant, like the council of Marion Bay (SA) built last year to solve the town’s water crisis, on their own initiative (it’s all on the web - makes for very inspiring reading).
Thanks again for the info and please keep us posted on the water situation!
    Cheers, Heidi

‘water’ is the theme for this year’s annual festival of Brave New Works to be held over Easter Weekend

‘Water Generators’ that gets water from the air will be demonstrated at the Festival Market Day. The stallholders, the Water Gurus, will also show filter systems that convert water from any source into drinking water

a new industry has been spurned by the water crisis
